Our Story: From the Factory Floor to the Software Code

Jeison's journey began in the industrial heartland of Joinville, Brazil, where he honed his skills in mechanical design and production engineering. Working with AutoCAD and Solidworks, gaining his mechanical design degree, and then expanding to Production Engineering, Jeison developed an unusual combination of technical expertise with real-world experience of pain points. Having managed the process in practice, he identified major flaws in existing ERP systems that he could not resolve in the moment. From generating Excel spreadsheets for quoting to managing engineering teams, he experienced first hand how bad things can be. After transition from designer to production engineer to ERP specialist, he became committed to resolving these issues.

Jeison's vision for Nengatu took shape during his time at JVC Precision, a custom metal shop in Ontario. Tasked with creating a quoting spreadsheet, he quickly realised the limitations of disparate systems. "We had spreadsheets for everything – quotes, work orders, accounting – all with the same information," Jeison recalls. "It was a data entry nightmare". Recognising the need for a unified solution, he leveraged his programming knowledge to develop a custom system using Microsoft Access.

That solution was essential for the company to pass its ISO 9001 audit, by helping teams to keep data accuracy and traceability. The ISO auditor was very impressed by the system, stating that it would be a good model for other companies to follow. When Jeison moved to Vancouver in 2021, he decided to rebuild the system from scratch, incorporating all his learnings to serve small and medium businesses in the best possible way. Drawing on the best team he could assemble, he is proud to be able to offer Nengatu today.
